Function of FOUNDATION:-
To support the weight of Superstructure
Distribute load of structure to wide surface area to prevent any type of movement
To increase stability of structure
The part of structure constructed above or below the surface of ground floor is known as plinth.
To provide protection from rainwater and crawling
Doors and Windows :-
These are the openings which allow entrance in the building and circulation through different rooms .
These are opening generally constructed in the external wall which provides air and light inside the rooms .
Load bearing structure :
In this type of construction ,load of the structure is transferred to the walls as roof, floors are directly supported on walls
This type of structure is economical upto two to four storeys. the number of storeys increase wall thickness also increases
Eg :- Shniwarwada , Central building ,Government Collage of engineering (Pune)building .
Frame Structure :
In framed structure load is transfer through a frame of slab beam , column and footing to the underlying soil as shown in fig. Slab and beams are flexural member members in which slabs resting on beams transfer load to the beams. beams transfer load to column which connected to footing .footing transfer load to soil and strata.
By this structure 100 storey can be constructed
